Southampton leapfrogged past Manchester United into third spot in the Barclays Premier League with a 1-nil win on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Chelsea moved clear of Manchester City at the top of the table courtesy of a 2-0 win over Newcastle coupled with a 1-1 draw between City and Everton. The Blues are now two points ahead at the top of the league.
Crystal Palace came from a goal down to defeat Tottenham 2-1, Arsenal defeated Stoke 3-0 and Burnley moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 victory over QPR.
