Mario Chalmers returned to Miami for the first time since being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in November. Chalmers spent the first seven seasons of his career in Miami, averaging 8.8 points, 3.8 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.5 steals a game.
Those numbers dipped a bit in the playoffs, but there were enough moments in multiple playoff runs that Rio will surely go down as one of those in-between team legends. He was a huge part of championship teams, but he’ll never have his number retired. Still, he rated well enough to get a video tribute in his return to Miami. Sure, they had to throw in his shot at Kansas to stretch for time, but still.
The Heat beat the Grizzlies, by the way. Rio had 12 points and 2 assists.
