Italy will host the Ryder Cup for the first time in 2022. The European Tour announced on Monday that the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome was chosen. This is only the third time that a course outside of the UK and Ireland will host the event. The other two were Spain’s Valderrama in 1997, which was won by the European team, and France’s Le Golf National, which will host the event in 2018.
The only three Italians to have competed in the Ryder Cup are Costantino Rocca, Edoardo Molinari, and Francesco Molinari.
Here are the next five Ryder Cup venues:
2016 – Hazeltine National – Chaska, Minn.
2018 – Le Golf National – Paris, France
2020 – Whistling Straits – Sheboygan, Wisc.
2022 – Marco Simone Golf and Country Club – Rome, Italy
2024 – Bethpage Black – Farmingdale, N.Y.
