Mark Richt has been fired by the University of Georgia. The news had seemingly been coming for awhile, but when you win nine games, you’re usually safe. That wasn’t the case here, as Richt’s Bulldogs sputtered to the finish, not playing well.
Perhaps with Les Miles staying at LSU, Georgia felt there would be less competition in the SEC for an elite coach. This search could be a fun one.
Is Kirby Smart, the Alabama defensive coordinator, going to get the job? He’ll be preparing for Florida and the SEC title game this week, and then a playoff game.
