Field-Storming TCU Fans Appeared to Give Baylor's Art Briles An Earful

Baylor’s slim national title hopes were washed away in the rain last night when TCU prevailed in double overtime. As Horned Frogs fans ran onto the field to celebrate, a few appeared to taunt Bears coach Art Briles as he tried to find Gary Patterson for the post-game handshake.

TCU safety Nick Orr also said something rather loudly in Briles’ direction. Probably something like “good game, coach” or “some hot chicken soup would hit the spot right now.”

Sitting in the rain for four-plus hours can make a person do weird things but making a beeline for the losing coach to talk smack in the presence of police officers seems like a poor choice. There are many subpar potential consequences for such an action.

I’m always impressed at the restraint shown by athletes and coaches alike in these types of situations. Can’t be easy to not react.
