Dear Steelers, Please Just Finish Off the Seahawks

We’ve reached the point in the NFL season where some teams are in their personal playoffs. My editor Jason Lisk went through all of the scenarios across the league this past Monday, and the one Sunday matchup that really stands out is Pittsburgh at Seattle.

The Seahawks have not been a good team so far this season. Their wins have come over teams starting Blaine Gabbert, Matt Cassel, Jimmy Clausen, The Guy Who Used To Be Colin Kaepernick, and Matthew Stafford (who’s by far the best on that list). Nevertheless, it’s not impossible to envision them taking care of business against the Steelers, going into Minnesota with a head of steam, and then rattling off three or four more wins against a comparatively easy schedule as they become themselves again.

As a Packers fan, I’m making a formal request for the Steelers to not let that happen.

I want nothing to do with Seattle steamrolling into Green Bay in the Wild Card round and hurting me again. A Steelers victory this Sunday would make that scenario much more likely. (Mandatory acknowledgement that it’s conceivable for the Seahawks to lose this week and still make the playoffs at 10-6, and it’s also possible Minnesota wins the NFC North.)

Anyways, Steelers, don’t just do it because it’s a favor for me. At 6-4, you need to hold off teams like the Bills, Chiefs, and Jets to keep your own season alive as well. But please do consider carrying out my request. I want the Seahawks airing dirty laundry throughout December, January, and the offseason. Questions about the future. Is their window of opportunity closed? Did the contract and celebrity go to Russell Wilson’s head? Give me all of it. This starts with you. Let’s go.
