College Football Playoff Blind Test: Which 1-Loss Teams Are Most Preferable?

The CFB Playoff Committee has a tough task ahead of them, unless chaos in the form of multiple 2-loss champions among the Big Ten, SEC or Notre Dame losing plays out.

There is plenty of talk about #brands and conference pride at this time of the year. To remove some of that, I put together a blind taste test with the records of potential 1-loss teams based on current team rankings (I used the Football Perspective current rankings here).

But these are not just the current resumés of teams. These are the ultimate resumés if these teams end up with only one loss, and includes potential additional key wins to get into the discussion. For the moment, yes, I am assuming that no team with 2-losses gets into the playoff and the Committee will have to choose between some of these options.

Oh, and all “bad losses” are included in those “versus 41 to 60” records, even if the team shows up just outside the top 60.

Here is your blind test. Pick 4. While this doesn’t include plenty of factors, like who the specific opponent was, the injury situation, and how close or controversial the games were, it provides a decent starting point to frame potential debates.

Good luck and we will update tomorrow with the results of voting, and the identities of teams.
