Jordan Spieth Named Player of the Year After Dominating this Season

Jordan Spieth fist pump after TOUR Championship win

Jordan Spieth is officially the PGA Tour Player of the Year for the 2014-2015 season, as if we needed an actual vote to tell us that. Spieth had a dominating season with wins at the Valspar Championship, Masters, U.S. Open, John Deere Classic, and TOUR Championship. He also claimed the FedExCup title. In addition to winning the first two majors, he finished fourth and second in the last two.

“It’s an honor because to win Player of the Year, because it was our MVP of our league,” Spieth said Friday. “And it’s voted on by the players. And for them to recognize the hard work that we’ve put in and what we’ve been able to do with it is truly special and I thank all the players I look up to.”

Spieth also delivered a great line when asked what he gets from being named POY.

Spieth finished the season ranked number one in the world golf rankings and earned a record $22 million over the year. Spieth also collected the Vardon Trophy, which is given to the player who finishes the season with the lowest scoring average.
