Yesssssss.
In what is speculated to be Tim Hudson and Barry Zito’s final major league starts ever, the two former teammates — and two-thirds of the Oakland Athletics’ proverbial “Big 3” pitching cornerstone of the 2000’s — will square off this Saturday in Oakland.

What’s funny is that when September 1st came and all major league rosters expanded: the Oakland Athletics didn’t recall Zito from Triple-A Nashville. As a matter of fact: it was even reported that Barry wasn’t going to make it back to the majors at all this season. However, after A’s starting pitcher Jesse Chavez suffered a rib injury … Zito got the call and headed back to the city where he made his baseball name.
To make this day even more fun, Mark Mulder: the final third of said A’s “Big Three”, will be in attendance…

…And all three pitchers are scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch together on Sunday, which is Oakland’s final home game this season.

Gotta hand it to the A’s and Giants front offices … this is one great way to distract their respective fan bases from being upset re: missing the playoffs.
