THE BULLS ARE BACK.
Derrick Rose couldn't even make it through the Chicago Bulls' first practice of training camp without getting hurt. Rose suffered a left orbital fracture on Tuesday, and is set to have surgery on Wednesday. The team will give a timetable for his return after the surgery.
Rajon Rondo suffered a similar injury last season and missed about two weeks, according to Cody Westerlund of The Score. Rose could certainly be in line to return for the team's season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 27, likely playing with a mask.
Even if Rose doesn't miss regular season games because of the injury, it's still a bummer he'll miss practice crucial practice time in training camp. This is also a good opportunity to point out that the Bulls' biggest hole might be at backup point guard, where Aaron Brooks, E'Twaun Moore and Kirk Hinrich are expected to compete for minutes.
Because I have nothing else to add, I'm just gonna embed this Dragonfly Jonez tweet.
And how low is the bar set for D.Rose's health if we breathe a sigh of relief like "Whew. Just a broken face. Thank God".
