American Pharoah Jockey Victor Espinoza is Donating All of His Belmont Winnings to Cancer Research

capitals fire

This isn’t particularly anything new, as Newsday reported: American Pharoah Jockey Victor Espinoza always donates a portion of his winnings, from every race, to ‘City of Hope’ — a cancer research and treatment facility in California…

However, after winning the Belmont, Espinoza made a rather generous winnings donation to his favorite charity — all of it…

In an interview with The Courier-Journal, Espinoza said:

“At the wire I was like, ‘I cannot believe I did it …I (won) the Triple Crown race now, but I didn’t make any money, because I donated my money to the City of Hope.”

On a day where Victor earned the right to be as selfish as he damn well pleased, it’s pretty awesome to see the fame hasn’t changed him — as helping others has always been, and appears to always be, his biggest priority…
