The group stage matches are over. The 2015 Women’s World Cup knockout rounds are here. The USWNT won Group D and, therefore, has a quite favorable run through the bracket.

The Round of 16 sees the Americans play Colombia, who finished third in Group F. They were the 20th best team per WSPI entering the tournament. A quarterfinal would see the U.S. play the winner of second-place finishers China (13th best) and Cameroon (19th best). None of those teams were ranked as high as the bottom ranked team in the U.S. group Nigeria (12th best).

Should the U.S. reach the semifinal, they would probably play the winner of Germany/France. For a contrast, Germany will likely have to beat three of the WSPI rankings’ top six teams (Sweden, France, U.S.) just to get to the final.
