UConn retakes its place on top of women's basketball after a dominating performance against the team that entered the game ranked No. 1.
No. 2 Connecticut handed No. 1 South Carolina its first loss of the season, and it wasn't particularly close. The Huskies walloped the top-ranked Gamecocks, scoring 47 points in the first half and cruising to an easy 87-62 win.
The game was billed as a showdown of the two best teams in women's hoops, but the Huskies made it clear there's a large talent gap in between the two squads. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis led the way with 23 points on 5-of-6 shooting from deep. Defensively, the Huskies forced 17 turnovers.
It seems rather unlikely UConn will lose again in the regular season or the AAC Tournament -- they've scored twice as many points as their opponent in seven conference games this year -- and didn't lose a single game in conference play last year.
UConn's only loss came on the road against Stanford in overtime way back in November. One undefeated team remains -- No. 16 Princeton, which sits at 21-0 with nine Ivy League games ahead.
