Despite persistent rumours linking him with Real Madrid, the German international will be staying in Dortmund for now.
Things haven't been going well for Borussia Dortmund on the pitch: despite the weekend's 3-0 win over SC Freiburg, they still sit 16th in the table, thoroughly embroiled in a relegation battle. Good news, however, comes in with the news that attacking midfielder Marco Reus, much-coveted throughout Europe, has signed a new contract with the club.

Rumours have been swirling for a while that Reus would be able to leave at the end of this season for a relatively small fee of €25m, but if reports are accurate then this new deal, which runs until 2019, does not contain any such release clause. German newspaper Kicker reports that a potential move to Real Madrid could have more than doubled his wages, and while it's still not impossible that he might move on, Dortmund can at least now be assured of getting something close to full-price.
Reus has missed much of the last few seasons with injury, most recently damaging his ankle in November. He has recently returned to action, however, and will be looking to lead Dortmund away from the bottom of the table and further into the Champions League.
