After falling out of favor with yet another club in Europe, Dani Osvaldo is returning home to Argentina to give Boca Juniors a Copa Libertadores boost.
Pablo Daniel Osvlado has, unfortunately, proven himself to still be capable of upsetting the balance of a squad and falling out of a manager's favor after clashing with Roberto Mancini and finding himself outcast at Inter Milan. Seeing as he's no longer welcome at Southampton either after fighting with teammates during training, he had to find a new loan destination. So why not go to a country where he hasn't made anyone mad lately?
Thus, Osvlado is returning to his home country of Argentina, where the Italian international was born and raised before returning to Europe to see his professional career flourish. He's signed on loan with Boca Juniors, where he'll see out the remainder of the season as the Argentine juggernauts launch their Copa Libertadores campaign.
Dani Osvaldo looks like he can be a key part of Boca's quest for a Copa Libertadores title, as he's a clear upgrade on the forwards currently employed by the club he cheered for in his younger days. It's not that Jonathan Calleri, Emanuel Gigliotti, or Juan Manuel Martinez are poor forwards by any means, just that on his day, Osvaldo is simply better.
Osvaldo scored seven goals in 19 all-competitions appearances for Inter in his half-season with Inter, with most of those appearances coming off the bench. With more regular minutes, Osvaldo's superior athleticism and skill could dominate in the Argentine Primera División and the Copa Libertadores, giving Boca an excellent shot at achieving their goals for the season. Hopefully this time Osvaldo can do his thing without creating too much unnecessary chaos along the way.
