NHL Tuesday: Blues, Canadiens carry streaks into busy evening

Considering the Penguins and Bruins are their opponents, the Habs and Blues might struggle to keep their streaks alive on Tuesday.

It's a loaded Tuesday night of action across the NHL with 11 games on tap and there will be a few we'll be keeping an eye on closely.

One highlight game will be at TD Garden in Boston where the St. Louis Blues, winners of 10 of the past 11 games and three in row, face the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. ET. We've written a ton here already about how great Vladimir Tarasenko has been, but the Blues have gotten T.J. Oshie and Paul Stastny back recently and the results have shown in how they've won games. They attack from any line and have a defense that plays as tough as anyone.

The Bruins are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games and despite back-to-back blowout losses to Montreal and Toronto last week, are still doing well with the drama of losing to rivals. Tuukka Rask provided a stellar game on Saturday to help stop the bleeding. They'll need that and then some to hold off the Blues.

Elsewhere, a pair of division leaders square off in Montreal as the Canadiens host the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7:30 p.m.. The Canadiens have won six straight games and have looked strong doing so. Sending Rene Bourque to the AHL and trading Travis Moen for Sergei Gonchar has freed up the forward choices for coach Michel Therrien and they're thriving because of it. Max Pacioretty and Tomas Plekanec have picked up the scoring and Carey Price just keeps being great in goal.

The Penguins are no pushovers as they're 9-1-0 in their last 10 games. Sidney Crosby has been reunited with Pascal Dupuis and Chris Kunitz and Evgeni Malkin is playing tough and talented hockey to go with it. Only difference between how well the Pens and Habs have been playing? Montreal has played three more games.

Your national U.S. game features America's Team, the Buffalo Sabres, at home against the San Jose Sharks at 7:30 p.m. Shocking stat: The Sharks are 0-6-1 against the Sabres in the last seven games and lost 2-1 to them at SAP Center in October.
