Montee Ball aggravated his groin injury in Week 11 and could miss 2-3 more weeks. We break down the fantasy implications.
Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball might be looking at more missed time. The Denver Post reports that Ball could miss 2-3 weeks after aggravating his groin injury in Sunday's Week 11 loss to the St. Louis Rams.
Ball had previously missed five games after suffering the groin strain in Week 5. He returned on Sunday but played only four snaps before leaving with the same injury. With Ronnie Hillman also out with an injury, C.J. Anderson handled the load in Denver's backfield, playing on 64 of 69 offensive snaps and recording 17 touches for 115 total yards.
Fantasy impact: Ball's disappointing season ends on a whimper -- even the optimistic timeline would have him out until the fantasy playoffs, at which point you can't trust him in your lineup. Ball is safe to drop in all re-draft leagues. The 2013 second-round pick might get another chance to be a bellcow next year, but his 2014 season is a complete waste after being hyped as a first-round fantasy pick in preseason. Hillman is still week-to-week, so Anderson carries legitimate RB2 value against the Miami Dolphins in Week 12.
