Artie makes his first big hire
As Bulls fans were basking in the aftermath of Episodes 3 and 4 of “The Last Dance,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski dropped a bomb regarding Arturas Karnisovas’ general manager search:
Sixers assistant GM Marc Eversley has agreed to a deal to become the Chicago Bulls new general manager, league sources tell ESPN. Eversley will join EVP of Basketball Operations Arturas Karnisovas to lead a reshaped front office.

Eversley, a native of Canada, will become the first black GM in franchise history. He comes to the Bulls after front office runs with the Sixers, Wizards, Raptors and a decade at Nike. Michael Reinsdorf has now fully remade the Bulls front office now. https://t.co/O4OYz4MxMe

Marc Eversley joined the Philadelphia 76ers in 2016 as the vice president of player personnel and was promoted to a senior role in 2018. Eversley was the vice president of scouting for the Washington Wizards from 2013-2016. Prior to that, he worked his way up the ranks for the Toronto Raptors from 2006-2013 after getting his start with Nike. He held multiple roles with the Raptors, including player development assistant, assistant GM and vice president of college scouting.
I don’t really have a take on this hire, but I’ll note that Bryan Colangelo hired him twice, which probably explains the Bulls interviewing Colangelo a few weeks ago. Eversley joined both the Raptors and Sixers shortly after Colangelo was hired there.
Now that a general manager is in place, we’ll see how quickly the Bulls make a move on head coach Jim Boylen. While Jimbo is still confident about sticking around, common sense suggests this new front office will want to make a change and bring their own guy in to coach the team.
