Let’s do a mental exercise. Try to picture Rob Gronkowski throwing out a ceremonial first pitch to David Ortiz at Fenway Park.
Is Gronk wearing shorts and a No. 87 jersey? Is he sticking his tongue out and acting generally goofy? Does he manage to split the plate despite acting like the whole thing is a joke?
If so, go ahead and pat yourself on the back. You imagined it perfectly.
Gronkowski’s accurate heave couldn’t have come at a better time. With Tom Brady out for the first four games of the season, Bill Belichick will consider all options under center. Even a freakishly athletic future Hall of Fame tight end.
