Podcast With Aaron Torres on Dan Majerle's Meteoric Rise at Grand Canyon; John Wall's Leadership at Kentucky

On today’s podcast, I spoke with Aaron Torres of Fox Sports (@Aaron_Torres) about his article from last week on Dan Majerle and the Grand Canyon University basketball program.

For those unfamiliar with the story, the Grand Canyon Antelopes are in only their third year in Division I, and aren’t eligible to participate in the NCAA Tournament as a program still in transition. However, they are currently 24-4 and have an amazing story in how a school that now has online students all around the country has also built a growing program with a former NBA star and a former NBA GB (Jerry Colangelo) leading the way.

We also talked about Aaron’s book about the 2010 Kentucky Wildcats, “Fun and Done.” available at Amazon. [the Kentucky part picks up at around the 25:45 mark.] That was John Calipari’s first team, and Aaron also told stories about John Wall’s determination and leadership setting the tone for the Kentucky program that followed under John Calipari, as well as a story about DeMarcus Cousins and how he provided some advice to Isaiah Briscoe this fall.
