M.I.A. Mocks NFL, Who Sued Her Over Middle Finger, In New Song

M.I.A. released her new song “Boom ADD” this week. The introduction is purportedly a recording of her attorney explaining the lawsuit from the NFL after she gave a one-finger salute during her performance with Madonna at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show in early 2012.

“They’re suing you for damaging their fantastic reputation by flipping the bird,” he said. “The other part, they wanted to reserve the right to sue you later to make you pay for any damages they have.”

M.I.A. and the league settled the suit in 2014.
