Throw caution, the bathwater and the baby, and, hell, whatever screen you're reading this on out that damn window. We're in the playoffs now, and, with only eight teams going, we've got to be bold with our decisions and bolder with our risk tolerance. These three lineup suggestions are not for the meek or those prone to nervous nausea. These are the three lineups that you'll see either winning the tournament or scoring 40 total points. Fire up your dollar leagues, close your eyes, and pray that one of these dart throws wind up on the board and not in the shoulder of the poor bastard sitting too close.
Wideout heavy, scary light elsewhere
We've seen success in the regular season by investing heavily in our WR1 and WR2. Most weeks, a combination of Odell Beckham, Jr. and Antonio Brown cost you a good chunk of change but guaranteed a nice 40 point cushion from just two players. In order to accommodate that price, we looked toward cheap but risky plays at our other slots. For this week, a lineup with this approach looks something like this:
Combining Demaryius and Dez at $19,000 is nearly one-third of our total salary cap, but it gives you a high floor and a chance at excellence. Neither wideout has a daunting matchup this week-Vontae Davis is all-world but plays only one side-and they enjoy a consistent amount of targets. Dez's performance last week was limited greatly by a Detroit defense hell-bent on shutting him down, much to their expense. A better performance from the rushing attack will open things up for Dez, while Demaryius has somehow only one game under ten points in the last ten games.
We can stack Dez with Romo while still snagging a top-level running back in Eddie Lacy. The rest of the team scares the crap out of me.
Ride the workhorses
This strategy employs the top two running backs, and little else. Marshawn Lynch and DeMarco Murray might be the two most consistent backs left-CJ Anderson sure looks nice, but his Matt Asiata statline last game does scare me-and neither has a frightening matchup. At $17,800 total, we have some flexibility but will need some bargain hunting. I deployed the same three wideouts from our Saturday preview, only costing us $19,300. We can own the majority of Seattle production by also using Russell Wilson while mitigating backend damage with Coby Fleener and Justin Tucker. Green Bay as our defensive option isn't ideal, but their cost is small enough to let us ride the workhorses.
Play for upsets
Here is our boldest, least defensible, strangest option idea. We can jump quickly to the front if our lineup flies against conventional game logic and reason by picking multiple upsets. This lineup gives us two great wideouts in TY Hilton and Torrey Smtih, solid backend investment in Greg Olsen and Vinatieri, and a QB in Luck that should, at minimum, enjoy a gigantic workload. Our RBs are incredibly suspect, but they're cheap and capable. Employ this lineup as a Charlie Kelly wildcard.
