The New York tight end had another bad game Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
New York Giants tight end Larry Donnell averaged 11 fantasy points a game over the first month of the season. Since then, he's only even gotten to 11 points in a game once, including Sunday, when Donnell was quiet again in the Giants' 36-7 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Donnell had four catches for 28 yards Sunday, the fourth game in his last five with three or fewer fantasy points and seventh such game on the season. Since that 11-point-a-game stretch through Week 4, Donnell has averaged 3.7 points a game.
Fantasy impact: Maybe we were all a bit hasty on that Larry Donnell bandwagon? The tight end looked like a top-six or top-seven option at the position early in the season, but at this point it's hard to imagine starting him at all.
The problem is that there aren't many options at the position worth a lot, but even with that, Donnell of late hasn't offered enough upside to stomach the downside that he carries. If you have Donnell, you have to look for an alternative.
